2D Stuff

A great place to show my creativity is with logos. A lot of graphic designers are challenged by the creativity that is needed to create a good concept for a corporate identity. I myself have felt intimidated from time to time about creating a good ID symbol for a business. However, I can say with confidence that with time, practice, and experience a graphic designer can learn what is good, what looks good, what can or could look good, and what looks great. My experience has given me both skill and improvement in this area and I hope to continue to improve as I make more and more logos in the future. Most of the logos shown here in the gallery to the right were done while working for a hosting company. However, I have done a few for family members, associates, and of course, myself.

I have worked in web design and while there I focused a lot of time on creating compositons for the header of individual web sites. I would speak to a customer in a private inverview and discuss with him/her about what he/she wanted to see in terms of layout, color, typography, photos, logo, business slogan, and navigation. I created these "header" designs in photoshop which were later used in the actual site for the customer. Some of these designs may have been moved from online due to circumstances with the individual customer. My experience with banner design has given me a great appreciation and love for photoshop. My confidence with photoshop has been greatly improved thanks to this kind of work.

Through a previous employer I was able to work on simple business and informative websites. Most of the work I did was table-based HTML. However, I was also contacted by a recruiter from this employer to do outsource work usuing HTML AND CSS. I currently work as a paperbox CAD designer and do some website work on the side for a personal hobby of mine. (This is the first site listed on the left.) Feel free to look at the sites here to see other work I have done. They were built using Dreamweaver CS3. (HTML and CSS)

One of my first jobs was working for KSL broadcasting in Salt Lake City. October 2005-March 2006 I primarily worked on graphic compositions for the 4pm and 10pm news shows and Sports Beat programs. I also technically directed the graphics for live broadcasts. It was a bit fast paced but definetly exciting and rewarding. These samples on the left were done in Photoshop and were interchangable. Every graphic seen here aired in a show at one point or another.

I sure do like using the pen tool in Illustrator and Photoshop to create vector shapes. I think this has given me a nice edge. Vector shapes have helped me be creative but have also helped me rebuild things that have already been created. Here I retraced one of my favorite characters from prime time television--the cute but evil Stewie Griffin. Although very ignorant at his age there is no telling what diabolical scheme he might be planning! The font was an easy and free download from the internet.
